Fireworks

Naturally the girls did not miss that Nov 5 has some kind of importance. We had been thinking about whether or not to get some fireworks for ourselves but decided against it in the end due to a combination of a small garden, small children and likelihood that any explosives not blowing our entire annual budget would be more underwhelming than this analogy. However, as luck would have it, the Stirling / Bridge of Allan Massive Firework Show (not its formal name) takes place in a park not too far from our house, and bounded by lots of fields that make viewing from nearby roads quite possible.

So a true bit of childhood fun ensued: we got the girls ready for bed, then wrapped up Naomi and Miriam in their PJs, coats and wellies, and put them in the back of the car. I then drove around for a bit looking for a spot not mobbed by others with the same idea - and we pulled up to a perfect spot just seconds before the display started. Here's a quick idea of the view we got, and the childhood wonderment:

Having nearly not done all this (Thursday is date night, which usually motivates an early bedtime for the children), I was really glad that we did - they had a great time! Although extreme tiredness did follow after we got them to bed about 8:30...
