A quick return to work matters, and some happy news... I have been helping to put together a bid for a grant to do a bit more work on optimising taxiing aircraft. This has now been awarded - the project will be called "TRANSIT: Towards a Robust Airport Decision Support System for Intelligent Taxiing". It's in partnership with a couple of other universities, and when you count the money that they are getting and what the industrial partners are putting in, it's worth a wee bit over a million pounds (so I'm feeling a tiny bit pleased with myself!) The way it's put online is a bit odd - the part with my name on is here, but the bit which actually says what it's all about (if you're interested) is here.
The main reason I'm putting this here is that it means there's now money for me to stay in work until the summer of 2019, and it's potentially quite helpful for when I do come to be looking for a permanent position somewhere.
The Brownlees moved to Loughborough so they started a blog. Now they've moved to Stirling but this is still your opportunity to keep up with all their goings on...

Canoe
It's quite usual for children to call each other names, but the particular choice of name can sometimes leave one baffled. This morning, one of our daughters was upset because her sister had called her a canoe.
Yes, that really happened.
